MEINS CONSULTING, S.L.U. is researching a new wind turbine blade design based on life cycle assessment (LCA) principles, with the objective of achieving a fully sustainable solution that is 100% recyclable and economically viable. To accomplish this, the project proposes replacing conventional thermoset resins with thermoplastic polyethylene terephthalate (PET) as the matrix material, reinforced with glass and carbon fibers.
This project has received a grant from the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE) amounting to €518,500.00 under the Renocicla Programme, which supports the circular economy for renewable energy equipment. The initiative is part of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
